Volunteer warehouse worker needed
Alberta Food Banks is the provincial association for food banks in Alberta. With a membership of 60 across the province, the association provides resources and programs to benefit member food banks. We support our members in food and fundraising initiatives, community awareness and advocacy activities. We are looking for a volunteer warehouse worker to assist in the regular construction of mixed pallets of food to distribute out to member food banks across Alberta. Training will be provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the volunteer warehouse worker will:
- Manage and organize stock in the AFB warehouse
- Pick, pack, wrap and label orders for member food banks
- Coordinate the shipment/pick up of AFB pallets with Edmonton’s Food Bank staff
- Complete reports by entering required information and maintain accurate records
- Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves and pallet area neat
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must be physically fit and able to easily lift up to 30 lbs regularly
- Able to stand and walk for 2-3 hours at a time
- Good organization and time management skills
- Flexibility in schedule
- Experience in using a hand or power jack in an asset
- Forklift certificate is an asset
- Willing to commit to 10-15 hours per month
HOURS OF WORK
- 3-4 hours per week on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon at Edmonton’s Food Bank warehouse (located at 11508 – 120 Street, Edmonton)
