Pembina Fresh Food Fund

Announced in July 2016, the Fresh Food Fund grant program is a $100,000 fund established by Pembina Pipelines.

This grant provides funds for rural food banks to purchase fresh, healthy, and local food items and supports current members of Alberta Food Banks.

To be eligible for this grant, a food bank must operate in a community of less than 100,000 people.

Food banks located in a community of less than 2,500 people are eligible to apply for one grant of $2,000 and food banks located in a community of more than 2,500 people are eligible to apply for one grant of $6,000.

All funds must be allocated towards the purchase of these food categories: Dairy, Protein, Fruits and Vegetables.

To ensure funds stay within the local community, food items must be purchased from local suppliers and grocery stores or directly from local farmers. Food banks will be required to submit receipts and a summary report outlining the allocation of funds. Purchases can be fresh or frozen.

The application is now closed for 2016. Check back for grant availability in 2017.
