Riding the riding to support food banks

Marlo Raynolds will cycle from Lake Louise to Airdrie on June 5 to 7 with a group of cyclists to support the food banks in the area. They will stop in each community to collect food donations and funds for food banks along the way.

From May 25-26, Sandyview Farms in Spruce Grove will donate 12% of retail sales to the Parkland Food Bank.

Retail sales do not include catering, restaurant, beverages, processing, pre-orders and sale/discounted items.

There will be a sign-up sheet at the till as they require a minimum of 12 signatures supporting the shopping days to earn the 12%. One signature per household purchase.

Sandy View Farms is located at 155 South Avenue, Spruce Grove.

Original Joe’s Restaurant and Bar will raise funds for food banks over the next four months through its Community Pint program at OJ’s locations throughout Western Canada.

Alberta Food Banks is celebrating a new partnership with western Canadian retailer, London Drugs.

London Drugs has been a long-time supporter of food banks across Alberta through various community initiatives such as Five Hole for Food. However, this marks the company’s first formal commitment to a sustainable program supporting food banks in the province. Rise in repeat food bank users reflects high cost of living

Alberta’s minimum wage went up this week, but social service agencies in the Calgary region say they’re seeing more evidence working families are having trouble making ends meet.
